Betel Nuts

Betel nuts are seeds obtained from Areca plant. This plant is mainly grown in East Africa, Southeast Asia and South Asia. The raw nuts can be chewed or can be added into a mixture in the sliced or powdered form. This nut is also known as Areca nut, supari, paan-gutkha pinang, etc. People in different parts of the world prefer to chew betel nut wrapped in betel leaf. Some people add different ingredients to make it taste better. In order to cut the large nuts, people usually use a special tool called areca nut. It is recommended to not consume betel nuts on regular basis, as it can cause serious diseases.
